Nelson Mandela Biography

                         Nelson Mandela
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was an inspiring South African. He was the first black president. We remember Nelson Mandela for his fighting against human rights to try to create peace for the black people in Africa.

Nelson Mandela was born on July the 18th 1918 in
Mvezo South Africa. Nelson Mandela was a lawyer a statesman a social activist a peace activist a writer a philanthropist and a actor. Nelson Mandela was best known for the man who spent 27 years in prison and became the first black president of South Africa.

Nelson Mandela was an inspiring man who inspired many people. He was just 44 years old when he got sent to prison. His crime, was not even a crime it was standing up against a government that was committing human rights abuses against black South Africans.

Nelson Mandela had a big impact upon people's lives because of what he did. The biggest impact he made was when he became the president he changed people's lives forever. “Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up’’
        -Nelson Mandela

The way he changed people's lives was by bringing south africa out of apartheid. Apartheid means discrimination on grounds of race. Another way he changed people's lives was by fighting for human rights for the black people of Africa.

When Nelson Mandela was born he was called Rolihlahla Mandela. Nelsons birth name means “trouble maker’’ and his father had four wives.  This is where Nelson Mandela was born.Click Here

I choose this person because I've heard alot about him but knew nothing and the only other one, I recognized was Mother Theresa because we did a reading sheet about her helping homeless people.

I think Nelson Mandela is an inspiring person and out of everything about him he believes that no matter what race, what origin everybody should have the same rights.

I’m not trying to be racist but this person reminds me of Barack Obama because of how kind he is and how inspiring he is.

The action he took that has made the biggest impression on me was that he fought for human rights then got imprisoned and then became a president. I choose this because after 27 years of jail he came out strong and made a difference.

This person may influence others to fight to have the same rights as white people have. So in the future someone might find out about Nelson Mandela and then they might make a difference.

Ski Trip To Porters

Porter Heights
On the 15th of August 2016 room one went to Porters Heights and went skiing. We had to get to school at six o'clock  because it was a two hour drive to Porters.
When we got to Porters we got out and lined up outside ski hire there were three lines if you were skiing, if you were snowboarding and if you have skied before. When we got in ski hire we got given a pair of boots we tried the right foot on first to see if it fitted, mine did so I took to this line where you get the skis fitted and got a pair then I went to the lessons. First we got taught how to put the skis on I didn’t get it so Ben helped out.

We learnt how to ski with one ski then stop with one ski then we tried both skis the hardest part was turning. After the lessons we got to do our own thing to get to the next level you needed to make five turns on the beginner slope I could only do three so I couldn’t go to the next one. After a while of practicing we had lunch.

For lunch I had a chicken roll long from the Do Duck In Bakery. After lunch I went back skiing practicing and practicing after a while my feet started to hurt because of the boots but I carried on practicing. At the end of the day I got a little bit bored so I returned my gear and had a little snack then left.

As we were winding down the windy road nick our driver said he had found some money so we could stop at the Arthur's Pass cafe he said nearly everybody had left so he had no chance of finding the person who lost the money as we come to a halt at the Arthur's Pass cafe me and Mitchell got out and walked around. Then me and Mitchell hopped back in the truck a few minutes later Nick brung in our hot chocolates they were very nice.

Soon we came to Greymouth the trip was over I grabbed my bag and walked up my driveway. I unpacked then I went motor bike riding until it was pitch black, the good thing about my motor bike is that it's got a headlight so I can ride it in the dark after that I came home and went to bed.

  • Conclusion
Skiing was very fun I just wish I could of got to intermediate but I could only do three turns on the beginner slope I would rate the trip 9/10 because it was very fun.
